THE CHALLENGE: ZenLedger is a cryptocurrency tax company that came to me looking for a web refresh with many different requirements. They needed your basic static pages, blog, competitor comparison, pricing sheets, e-commerce capabilities, a composite of all the exchanges they work with and to be able to search it, a webinar system, a way to upload new press articles, a composite of tax guides, and the ability to run special offer promotions.

MY SOLUTION:

  • A Webflow based 59+ page site
  • Custom CMS solutions for the exchanges, webinars, blogs, press, and tax guides
  • Custom coded pricing and competitor sheets
  • Importing 174 blogs from WordPress
  • Standardization of all onsite forms
  • Script to make it easier to access their online chatbot

Web Design

Based off the design work of Robert Suckley (Check out his portfolio here) I laid out 14+ static pages for the new site. The goal was to keep it clean and the information organized. There was a lot of info that went into this site and these static pages helped to keep things clear and concise.

Exchanges

ZenLedger supports over 400 exchanges, coin types, fiat currencies, wallets, and DeFi protocols. Obviously this is a lot to search through when looking for the one you need in particular. Together with Jetboost we implemented a system that allowed to search them all. And if you don’t find what you need all you need to do is go to the exchanges page a request it through the form.

Webinars

ZenLedger’s Webinars are gated content. We used the CMS to build out the pages where they could learn about the content of the webinar and implemented forms from Active Campaign to redirect them to static pages with videos hosted by Wistia. We then used the robots.txt file to keep google from indexing the video pages so the only way to access them is to put in your info.

Blogs

Since we were switching from a WordPress site to a Webflow site we needed to migrate 174 blog posts. To achieve this I exported a CSV file (a spreadsheet) with all the blog information and imported it into a custom CMS collection in Webflow. While  there were some hiccups we managed to import all the blogs and worked manually to fix any corruptions from the migration.

Press & Media

A large goal for ZenLedger was to improve upon their SEO and one of the best ways to do this is a press page with links going out to different media sites. Again we used the CMS to create an easy platform for the ZenLedger staff to post new articles with ease. One challenge was keeping the excerpts from becoming too long, but with some code from Rob we were able to always limit it to 7 lines.

Tax Guides

ZenLedger had originally gated these guides but now they are open to the public. All the ZenLedger team needs to do to release more is go into the CMS again. Seriously Webflow’s CMS is magic. In some cases to PDFs exceeded Webflow’s file size limit but we found a work around by hosting the larger ones on ZenLedgers Github page.

Custom Sheets

These were by far the most intricate part of the build. Due to Webflow’s custom code character limit I was forced to host these on Github and then embed them in iframes. I created sheets all hand coded and mobile responsive for both pricing and competitor comparisons. If you take a closer look at the competitor comparison you will notice an accordion menu each housing another chart. Again Rob was a huge help getting links within the iframes to open in new tabs or on the parent tab. These are pretty cool on mobile so please enjoy and check them out!

Forms

For all our forms onsite from the contact form, webinar forms, and exchange forms, we used Active Campaign Active Campaign has a decent amount of customization options but getting them just the way we wanted them proved to be a challenge. Lucky for us there was a css option within the platform. It was challenging to navigate at first but with Active Campaigns guides and customer service we got them just right. Another great benefit is that instead of needing to paste in a script very time theres a new webinar or special offer all the ZenLedger team need do is enter the form ID number. So go ahead give them a try and get talking with ZenLedger today.
